A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

 
abrumpens,-entis (part.B): breaking off, separating, severing; terminating or ending suddenly [> L. abrumpo,-rumpere, -rupi, -ruptum; ab/rapio: to snatch away, drag off; remove, detach]; see secedens,-entis, rupturing, splitting apart; see terminating;

- apices acuti saepe abrumpentes, apices acute, often breaking off.

- a Vinealobryo vineali (Brid.) R. H. Zander plantis in caespitem densum crebris, caulibus atque foliis fragilibus, usque ad ¾ longitudinis folii abrumpentibus differt, it differs from Vinealobryum vineale(Brid.) R. H. Zander by the plants crowded into a dense turf and by the stems and leaves fragile, breaking apart at ¾ the length of the leaf.
