A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

 
Zoospore, swarm-cell, swarm-spore, zoogonidium, a motile sporangiospore, one having flagella; “a motile naked protoplasmic body, a zoospore” (Jackson): zoospora,-ae (s.f.I), abl.sg. zoospora; see zoogonidium,-ii (s.n.II);

- propagatio agamica zoosporarum ope, asexual propagation by means of zoospores.

- sporangia et non caduca et non papillata, sed aetate vel ante remissionem zoosporarum aliquot semi-papillatae, the sporangia both not caducous and not papillate, but with age or before release of the zoospores some are semi-papillate.

zoospore-bearing or producing: zoosporophorus,-a,-um (adj.A).

Simbliospore, (in fungi) “same as ‘zoospore’ or ‘swarm spore’ (Greek translation) (Langeron, 1945)” (S&D): simbliospora,-ae (s.f.I); see simbli-, simblio-, in Gk. comp.

Sporangiospora,-ae (s.f.I), abl. sg. sporangiospora: sporangiospore, a motile, flagellate sporangiospore is a zoospore, q.v.; also zoogonidium, q.v.

Zoocarpium,-ii (s.n.II), abl. sg. zoocarpio: zoocarp, “the locomotive spores of some Confervas” [algae] (Lindley). Zoocarp = Zoospore (Jackson).

Fruit animalcule. See Zoocarpae (Paxton), who, however, omits his definition = zoocarpium.
