- vere, in spring (i.e. fruiting or flowering).

- autumno serotino et vere, in late autumn and spring.

- primo vere, vere novo, at the beginning of spring.

- ineunte vere, at the beginning of spring.

- [usus, ‘uses’] referente Turnero pauperes Northumbri cum porro & cepis cocta folia primo vere comedunt (Dill.), Turner relates that the poor of Northumber at the beginning of spring consume leaves cooked with a scallion and with onions.

- racemi compositi, penduli, velut folia pinnatisecta e gemma terminali squamosa primo vere erumpentia (B&H), racemes compound, pendulous, as if pinnatisect leaves bursting forth from terminal scaley buds at the beginning of spring.

- auctumno & hyeme oritur & in ver usque durat, observataque mihi variis circa Londinum locis ad fossas & pone muros, ubi vernali & aestivo calore mox exsiccata evanescit (Dill.), it arises in autumn and winter and endures as far as into spring, and observed by me in various places around London in ditches and behind walls when, in the vernal and summer heat, when soon afterwards dried up, it disappears.

- Barbariae temperies calida sed salubris et gratissima in regione septentrionali. Hyems dulcis Primi Veris refert imaginem (Desf.), the temperature of the Barbary [sc. Coast of the Mediterranean coast of North Africa] is hot but healthy and most pleasing in the northern region. The rainy season [i.e. winter] is sweet, it calls to mind the image of early spring [Primum Ver; French: primver; note Botticelli: painting “Primavera”].
