A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

Temperies,-ei (s.f.V), abl.sg. temperie: “a due mingling, mixture, or tempering, temperature, temper; moderation, temperance” (Lewis & Short); “the mixture of substances, qualities, etc., in due proportion, blend [,composition]; blend of atmospheric conditions, climate; (specifically) mild climate, temperateness; (moderate) temperature” (Glare);

- Barbariae temperies calida sed salubris et gratissima in regione septentrionali. Hyems dulcis Primi Veris refert imaginem (Desf.), the temperature of the Barbary [sc. Coast, of the Mediterranean coast of North Africa] is hot but healthy and most pleasing in the northern region. The rainy season [i.e. winter] is sweet, the image of early spring [Primum Ver; French: primver].

- [moss] aqua etenim frigoris et caloris vim pariter minuens, non adeo diversa temperie sub diversissimis zonis gaudet (Brid.), since water equally curtails the intensity of the cold or the heat, still more is it happy with a moderate blend of atmospheric conditions under [i.e. subject to] the most diverse [climatic] zones.

A work in progress, presently with preliminary A through R, and S, and with S (in part) through Z essentially completed.
