Shore, beach, coast (Eng.nouns): acta,-ae (s.f.I), q.v., the sea-shore, the beach [> Gk. aktE,-es (s.f.I), abl.sg. akte, a seashore]; arena,-ae (s.f.I), q.v., sand(s), sandy place, sandbar, beach, coast, shore; crepido,-inis (s.f.III), abl. sg. crepidine, a bank, shore; limes,-itis (s.m.III), q.v., abl. sg. limite, the line followed by a road, coast, etc., the coastline; littus,-oris (s.n.III), q.v., abl. sg. littore, (also with one ‘t’: litus,-oris (s.n.III) etc.), seashore, strand, coast; margo,-inis (s.m.& f. III), q.v., abl.sg. margine, bank, shore of a river, of a seashore; maritima (pl.n.II), q.v., [sc.loca] gen. pl. maritimorum, abl. pl. maritimis: maritime regions, places on the sea-coast; ora,-ae (s.f.I), q.v., sea-coast, shore; ora,-ae (s.f.I), q.v., 'the edge, border, boundary;' ripa,-ae (s.f.I), q.v., bank of stream or river, beach, shore; see shingle;

Beach (Eng.noun): “shore pebbles = shingle, q.v.; a gently sloping shore of an ocean, sea, or lake or the bank of a river that is covered by sand, sand and gravel, or larger rock fragments which are usu. originally waterborne, and is typically devoid of much vegetation = strand; the deposit of sand, gravel, or rock fragments along a shore” (WIII).

Strand (Eng. noun): a shore, beach; “the land bordering a body of water: shore, the land alternately covered and uncovered by the tide; the bank of a stream” (WIII).
