A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

 
Iron rust: ferrugo,-inis (s.f.III), abl. sg. ferrugine (from ferrum, as aerugo from aes; see -ugo).
Rust, iron: ferrugo,-inis (s.f.III), q.v., abl. sg. ferrugine.
Rust (Eng.noun): a coating produced on any of various metals (such as iron) by corrosion (oxidation): the coating of a metal when chemically attacked by moist air” (after WIII) (of copper or brass) aerugo,-inis (s.f.III), = verdegris, q.v.; (of iron): ferrugo,-inis (s.f.III), q.v., abl. sg. ferrugine; see rubigo,-inis (s.f.III), the rust of metals; of mildew.

Rust fungus: a fungus of the order Uredinales; ‘an abnormal reddish or brownish discoloration of vegetation or fruit” (WIII).
