A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

 
Parent (Eng.noun): parens (s.m. or f. III), gen. sing. parentis, abl. sing. parente, nom. pl. parentes, abl. pl. parentibus;

- hybrida inter parentes crescens ac optime intermedia, hybrid among the parents growing and beautifully intermediate (Stearn).

- et aliis characteribus inter parentes media, and by other characteristics midway between the parents (Stearn).

- hybrida nova ab speciebus ambabus laminis palmatifidis, magnitudine inter parentes mediis differt, from both species the new hybrid differs by the palmatifid laminae, by the size medium between the parents.

- hybrida inculta e Anapausia pradoi et A. scandenti genita, intermedia inter parentes, a natural hybrid born from Anapausia pradoi and A. scandens, intermediate between the parents.

- hybrida hortensis progenies sed parentes ign. (DeCandolle), a hybrid horticultural progeny but the parents unknown.
