Palate (Eng. noun), “the prominent lower lip of a ringent corolla” (Lindley); “1. the prominent lower lip of a ringent corolla; 2. the projection in the throat of a personate gamopetalous corolla” (Jackson); “a rounded projection of the lower lip of a personate corolla, closing the throat” (Fernald 1950): palatum,-i (s.n.II), also palatus,-i (s.m.II), abl.sg. palato 'the palate as the organ of taste or of speech;' also a vault;

- lobis deltoideis, apice rotundato, palato gibboso flavo, with lobes deltoid, with a rounded apex, with a gibbous yellow palate.

- palatum ínter labia, prominulum (Necker), the palate [i.e. vault or roof] between the lips somewhat prominent.

- faux, palato prominente clausa (Necker), the throat, shut up with a prominent palate.
