Pagina,-ae (s.f.I): side of a leaf; a written page or leaf; a page for any writing; a page, q.v., surface; “the surface of anything” (Lindley); the surface of a leaf or of a flattened thallus [> L. pagina,-ae (s.f.I), “a written page or leaf; a page, for any writing, a letter, book, etc.;” (Lewis & Short); “the column or page of writing; a piece of writing, ‘page,’ or ‘pages’” (Glare)];

Paginula,-ae (s.f.I): a column of writing.

- pagina aversa, lower side (of leaf).

- mycophila species Boletorum praesertim (B. adusti, versicoloris etc.) utramque paginam, in densissimas passim cohortes aggregata, obsidet (S&A), mycophilic, it besets [i.e. takes possesson of] of both surfaces of primarily species of Boletus (B. adustus, versicolor, etc.), aggregated everywhere in the most dense companies [i.e. multitudes].

- margine basis pinnarum acroscopica ad paginam abaxialem versus saepe subplicata, with the margin of the base of the pinnae acroscopic, often subplicate on the abaxial side.

- pagina foliolorum abaxiali hebeti (nec interdum nitida), with the abaxial side of the leaflets dull (not sometimes shining).

- glandulae petiolo v. pagina inferiore v. margine folii non raro adsunt (B&H), the glandules not rarely present on the petiole or the lower surface or the margin of the leaf.

— frútices ramulis novellis paginaque inferiore foliorum tomento adpresse stellato-canescentibus v. rufescentibus (B&H), the fruits with young branchlets and the lower surface of the leaves appressedly stellate-canescent or rufescent.

- siccata sistit paginam viridem, opacam, hic & illic granulatam vel farinaceam, chartae arcte adhaerentem (Agardh), when dried it consituts a green surface, opaque, here and there granulate or farinaceous, closely adhering to the paper.

- [lichen] pagina infera thalli e rhizinis tenellis confertis penicillatis hirtella, passim sub lobis subnuda vel denudata (Nyl.), the lower surface of the thallus hirtellus [i.e. minutely hairy] from soft [i.e. delicate] crowded penicillate [i.e. brush-like] rhizines, here and there below the lobes nearly naked or naked [i.e. lacking rhizines].
