A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

Oedema,-atis (s.m.III), abl. sg. oedemate: “(obsol.) a swelling (up); the so-called tumid glands found on the woody tissue of Conifers” (Lindley); “1. the tumid glands on woody tissues of Conifers; 2. proposed in place of ‘substitute Hydathodes;’ 3. = intumescences” (Jackson) [> Gk. oedEma, a swelling or tumor].

Intumescentia,-ae (s.f.I): intumescence (intumescere, to swell up) “any abnormal swelling on the exterior of plants” (Jackson); see intumescens,-entis (part.B).

Edema (Eng.noun), pl. edemas or edemata; also oedema (Eng.noun), pl. oedemas or oedemata: > oidEma, swelling, tumor; “akin to Gk. oidos, swelling, tumor” (WIII): “extended swelling of plant organs or parts of organs from an over-development of cells induced by an excess of water; any of various specific diseases of plants (as the tomato) characterized by such swellings” (after WIII).

A work in progress, presently with preliminary A through R, and S, and with S (in part) through Z essentially completed.
