Nosocomium,-ii (s.n.II), abl.sg. nosocomio; also noscomium,-ii (s.n.II), abl.sg. noscomio; also nosocomum,-i (s.n.II), abl.sg. nosocomo: “hospital, infirmary” (Stelten) [> L. nosocomium,-ii (s.n.II) “a hospital, infirmary” (Lewis & Short)= Gk. nosokomeion, “infirmary, hospital” (Liddell & Scott)].

Nosocomus,-i (s.m.II), abl.sg. nosocomo “an attendant on the sick, a sick-nurse” (Lewis & Short)= Gk. nosokomos (s.m.II), “sick-nurse, hospital superintendent” (Liddell & Scott); > LL. nosocomium, ‘hospital’ > LGk nosokomeion, > Gk. nosokomos, ‘one that tends the sick.

- Nosoсоmii, quod Vitae appellant, Archiater (Mich.), chief physician of the hospital which they call “Vita” [life].

- [fungus] in horto Simplicium Nosocomii Sancta Maria Nova Florentiae (Mich.), in the garden of the simples of the hospital of Sancta Maria Nova of Florence.

- Franciscus Maria Tanuccius Florentinus Lithotomiae, & Сhirurgiae in Noscomio Divae Mariae Novae Florentiae Prof. (Mich.), Franciscus Maria Tanuccius, [a Florentine, man of Florence], Professor of Lithotomy and Surgery in the Hospital of Saint Mary of New [i.e. Renaisance] Florence.

[NOTE: Florence is considered to have been the birthplace of the (Italian) Renaisance. The Hospital of Santa Maria Nuova in Florence, was founded in 1288 by Folco Portinari.

[NOTE: Lithotomia,-ae (s.f.I), q.v., lithotomy, the surgical removal of a stone from the urinary bladder.

- Solo usu olei Rosmarini chymici propinati in decoctis idoneis ante paroxysmum multas febres tertianas exquisite curatas esse in Nosocomio Parisiensi dicto ‘la charite’ vidit & observavit M. Jacques (Ray), M. Jacques saw and observed by the use of oil of [Rosmany] of the chemists [i.e. apothecaries] only, called ‘la charite’ in the Hospital of Paris, administered in appropriate decoctions (potions) before a sudden recurrence, that many tertian fevers were completely cured.
