A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

 
Minerale,-is (s.n.III), [on analogy with Vegetabile, q.v.]: minerale,-is (s.n.III), acc. sg. minerale, dat. & abl.sg. minerali, nom. & acc. pl. mineralis, gen. pl. mineralium, dat. & abl. pl. mineralibus: something that has been mined or derives from a mine; “mineral, ore” (Latham) [> medieval Latin, neuter noun from adj. mineralis,-e (adj.B) > minera,-ae (s.f.I), a mine (not in classical dictionaries) e.g. not in Lewis & Short]; see Regnum,-i (s.n.II).

Mineral (Eng.noun): (obsolete) a mine; “something that is neither animal nor vegetable (as in the old general classification of things into three kingdoms: animal, vegetable, and mineral; ore, used esp. in the mining industry” (WIII); “a material substance that is neither animal nor vegetable; an inorganic body occurring in nature, homogeneous and having a definite chemical composition and certain distinguishing physical character” (Online Etymological Dictionary).

Regnum,-i (s.n.II) lapideum, abl.sg. regno lepideo, vel Regnum minerale, abl.sg. Regno minerali: one of the three divisions of natural history by Aristotle.

mina,-ae (s.f.) alba (adj.A), “carbonate of lead, ‘wheatstone’ (Latham).

mina,-ae (s.f.I) nigra (adj.A), also minera,-ae (s.f.I) alba: “sulphide of lead, galena” (Latham).

Deposita Mineralium, deposits of minerals (i.e. mineral deposits) (mineralium = gen.pl.).
