Method, i.e. system of teaching, mode of proceeding, method: methodus,-i (s.f.II), abl.sg. methodo; (manner) modus,-i (s.m.II), q.v., abl.sg. modo, a method, mode, way, a manner of performing an action; via,-ae (s.f.I), q.v., abl. sg. via, method, mode, course; see systema,-atis (s.n.III);

NOTE: methodus,-i (s.f.II) and methodos,-i (s.f.II) = Gk. methodos, “a way of teaching, mode of proceeding, method” (Lewis & Short): note the feminine gender.

- Conspectus fungorum in Lusatiae Superioris agro Niskiensi crescentium, e methodo Persooniana [sic], overview of the fungi growing in Upper Lusatia in the Niskiensis region, from [according to] the Persoonian method.

- haec est una via laudis, this is the one [i.e. only] path of praise.

- RATIO OPERIS [plan of work] I. Omnia, quae a nobis vere dignosci possunt, dependent a clara Methodo, qua distinguimus similia a dissimilibus. Haec Methodus [quo] magis naturales comprehendit distinctiones, eo clarior rerum nobis nascitur idaea (Linn.), all things, which are can be understood by us properly, depend on a definite method, by which we distinguish like things from unlike. This Method, the more it comprehends natural distinctions, the more intelligible for us the idea of things comes to be.
