A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

 
Libanus,-i (s.m.II), abl. sg. Libano = Gk. libanos, Mount Lebanon in Syria.

Libanus,-a,-um (adj.A): of Lebanon.

- cedrus libana, cedar of Lebanon.

Olibanum,-i (s.n.II), abl.sg. olibano: olibanum, > oleum,-i (s.n.II) libani, oil of Lebanon = frankincense, q.v.

Libanus,-i (s.m.II), abl.sg. libano: frankincense (pure Latin = ‘tus’) (Lewis & Short); see frankincense.

Gk. LibanOtis,-idos (s.f.III), rosemary frankincense; LibanOtos (s.m. and f. II): frankincense, the gum of the tree libanos, used to burn at sacrifices; Libanos (s.m.III): frankincense-tree, Boswellia Carteri (= B. sacra); also = libanOtos (Liddell & Scott).
