A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

 
Jasper (Eng.noun): iaspis,-idis or –idos (s.f.III or II), abl.sg. iaspide = Gk. iaspis: “the name of various kinds of chalcedony, jasper” (Glare); “a precious stone, jasper” (Liddell & Scott); see agate.

Jasper (Eng.noun): “an opaque cryptocrystalline quartz of any of several colors (as red, brown, green, yellow; esp. green chalcedony” (WIII).

Iaspachates,-ae (s.m.I): a jasper-like variety of agate (Glare) [> Gk. iaspachatEs]; see agate.

iaspideus,-a,-um (adj.A): of the jasper kind, jasper-like (Lewis & Short). Iaspis,-idis (s.f.III) = Gk. iaspis: "a green-colored precious stone, jasper" (Lewis & Short).

iaspius,-a,-um (adj.A): “consisting of jasper” (Glare); - lapilli iaspii, little stones of jasper.

Iasponyx,-ychis (s.f.III), abl.sg. iasponyche: “a variety of jasper” (Glare) [> Gk. iaspis + onyx].

Jasponyx (Eng. Noun) “an onyx part or all of whose layers consist of jasper” (WIII).
