Gardener, a tender of gardens: hortulanus,-i (s.m.II), abl. sg. hortulano; olitor,-oris (.m.III), also holitor,-oris (s.m.III), “a kitchen-gardener, cabbage-gardener” (Lewis & Short) [> L. holus,-eris (s.n.III), q.v., kitchen or garden herbs of any kind; vegetables, esp. cabbage, colewort, turnips, greens. (Lewis & Short)]; opifex horti (m.&f.), gen.sg. opificis horti, abl.sg. opifice horti, the workman of the garden;

Gardener, an ornamental; fancy gardener: topiarius,-ii (s.m.II), abl. sg. topiario.

- hortulanorum, of gardeners.

- species ad 30, sed ab auctoribus tam inordinate multiplicatae ut in libris plus quam 180 descriptas et 250 enumeratas (varietatibus monstrisque hortulanorum exclusis) invenimus (B&H), species to 30, but by authors so erradically multiplied that in books we encountered more than 180 described and 250 listed (with varieties and the monstrosities of gardeners excluded).

A work in progress, presently with preliminary A through R, and S, and with S (in part) through Z essentially completed.
