A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

Exogen (Eng.noun), pl. exogenae, exogens (Eng. noun): “a dicotyledonous plant, supposed to grow by external accessions” (after “Endogen” in Jackson); “plants which increase in growth by the addition of wood on the outside beneath the constantly widening bark” (Jackson); “a plant that develops by exogenous growth” (WIII); probably sc. ‘plantae,’ i.e. Plantae Exogenae = exogens = Dicotyledones. An exogen is perhaps exogena (s.f.I); see Endogen (Eng. noun).

PLANTAE VASCULARES seu COTYLEDONEAE DC.

Classis Prima. DICOTYLEDONEAE seu EXOGENAE DC.: Vascular Plants or Cotyledoneae DC. First Class Dicotyledoneae or Exogenae DC.

A work in progress, presently with preliminary A through R, and S, and with S (in part) through Z essentially completed.
