A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

Cream (Eng.noun): “the yellowish part of milk, containing from 18 to about 40 percent butterfat that rises to the surface on standing or is separated by centrifugal force; a solid or liquid substance resembling or suggesting cream in appearance or consistency, as in an emollient; a medicinal preparation usually classed as an ointment; the part of an emulsion or suspension that rises and collects on the surface” (WIII).

Cream, as in “the best, most desireable, or choicest part of something; the quintessence” (WIII), that which rises to the top: butyrum,-i (s.n.II), abl.sg. butyro, ‘butter;’

‘Butyrum sapientae:’ the cream of wisdom (of Barhebraeus, Gregory Bar Hebraeus, his magnum opus, an exposition on the whole philosophy of Aristotle).

A work in progress, presently with preliminary A through R, and S, and with S (in part) through Z essentially completed.
