A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

Camera,-ae (s.f.I), abl.sg. camera; also camara,-ae (s.f.I): (as camara) “(obsol.) a carpel” (Lindley); (as camara) “occasionally used for the cells of a fruit” (Jackson); chamber, 'a vault, an arched roof, the interior of a vault [> Gk. kamara, a vault];' see carpel; see chamber, vault.

- [term] Loculamentum est camera quaedam seclusa & distincta in seminum vasculis, uti videre est in capitulis Papaverum. Jun. [in English]] ‘a Cell’ (Ray), the loculamentum [= locule] is a kind of cell separate and distinct in the vascula [i.e. seed vessels or capsules] of the seeds, as can be seen in the capitula of Papaver. Jungius.

Camera,-ae Apostolica (adj.A): “Apostolic Chamber; an office of the Roman Curia entrusted with the administration of temporal goods of the Holy See” (Stelten).

apostolicus,-a,-um (adj.A); as apostolicus, “a title applied to the Pope” (Stelten).

A work in progress, presently with preliminary A through R, and S, and with S (in part) through Z essentially completed.
