A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

 
-bioticus,-a,-um (adj.A), Eng.adj.suffix '-biotic,' = the adj. associated with the English noun suffix –biosis,-is (s.f.III), q.v.; in Gk. comp. ‘manner of living’ [> Gk. adj. biOtikos,-E,-on (adj.) fit for life, lively; of or pertaining to life; syn. -zoicus,-a,-um (adj.A); see –zoic; cf. animalis,-e (adj.B): 'consisting of air, aerial; animate, living;'

- aerobioticus, living only in the presence of free oxygen (WIII), antibioticus, tending to prevent, inhibit, or destroy life (WIII), necrobioticus, the death of cells or groups of cells, whether natural or as the result of pathology; symbioticus, of two dissimilar organisms living together, or dependent on one another;.

- cryptozoicus, cryptobiotic, living in concealment, of animals living in secluded situations as underground, in wood, in stone; cytozoicus, cytobiotic, parasitic within a cell (as of protozoans); epibioticus, epizoic, growing on the outer surface of a living organism; halozoicus, halobiotic, able to flourish in saline habitats; phanerozoicus, phanerobiotic, living unconcealed, especially in daylight; cryptozoicus, cryptobiotic, living in concealment, of animals living in secluded situations as underground, in wood, in stone; cytozoicus, cytobiotic, parasitic within a cell (as of protozoans).
