Lamiaceae (Labiatae)

About 350 species in Europe and Asia. Some are cultivated for medicinal and culinary purposes. Some are known as ornamentals. There are ornamentals among the 150 species of the FSU.

T. ladjanuricus Kem.-Nath.

Caucasus (western Transcaucasus). On rocky places, talus.

Mat-forming plant with numerous long stems (50cm), woody at base. Leaves elliptic-spathulate or narrowly linear, 10-20 x 3.5-5 mm. Inflorescence nearly globose, with long leaflike bracts. Calyx tube-campanulate, with upper lip deeply divided, teeth long-ciliate, corolla 6-7 mm long, narrowly tube, pink. V - early spring, tends to be evergreen in regions without frost. Fl - May. Fr - July. P - by seed and cuttings. Very good ground cover plant, for all types of rock gardens. Drought-resistant. Z 6 (5). New.
