Campanulaceae

A monotypic genus, close to Campanula, differs in fruit structure, pollen grain structure, seedling structure and chromosome structure and number.

G. lactiflora (Bieb.) Schulkina

Campanula lactiflora Bieb.

Caucasus and Anatolia. In forest, in subalpine zone.

Taprooted herbaceous plant 150 cm. Leaves ovate or elongate-ovate, biserrate. Flowers light blue or almost white, to 2.5-3.5 cm long, very many in a paniculate inflorescence. V - May to September-October. Fl - for one month or more, June-July, occasional flowers appear till the end of the growing season. Fr - July-October. P - by seed, flowers the year after sowing. Can be cultivated in sunny and also in partly shaded places Z 4. Good for group planting, where can grow for many years once established.
