Big honey locust that stood near the center of the Arboretum, just west of the creek, destroyed by the tornado of May 27, 1896.

May 27, 1896 tornado damage. Previously there was a border of soft maples on either side of the driveway from the main garden down to the pasture gates near the creek. The boy is Robert Meyers (later a garden pupil).
