Lianas, the branchlets terete, hollow, without interpetiolar glandular fields; pseudostipules inconspicuous or ± spathulate and early deciduous. Leaves 3-foliolate; terminal leaflet often replaced by a simple or trifid tendril, conspicuously pellucid-punctate from lepidote-peltate glands on the lower surface. Inflorescence a few-flowered axillary raceme. Calyx campanulate, sometimes ± inflated, pubescent, irregularly shallowly bilabiate to 5-lobed; corolla white to magenta, puberulous outside. Anthers glabrous or slightly puberulous on margin of thecal opening, straight, divaricate. Ovary linear-tetragonal, lepidote; ovules 2-seriate in each locule. Fruit a narrow, linear capsule, the valves parallel to the septum, thin, convex, usually faintly striate and ± pubescent. Seeds thin, 2-winged, the wings membranous, brownish, weakly demarcated from seed body.

Southern Mexico, Central America, Colombia, Venezuela, Suriname, French Guiana, Ecuador, Peru, Brazil, Bolivia; 3 species, 2 in Venezuela, both of these in the flora area.

Material from the flora area is sterile and is only tentatively identified to this species.
