Meal Options for Group Tours

Enjoy lunch in the Garden’s café, Sassafras located in the fully accessible Ridgway Center. Sassafras is open to the public and seats 124 people inside (with an additional 108 seats outside). Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. year-round. Lunch is served from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. (The spring menu will be available in April.)

From April through October, the Garden offers a second, smaller Terrace Café located in the Kemper Center for Home Gardening. The Terrace Café is open to the public and seats 24 people inside (20 additional seats scattered outside). Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. from April to October; closed in winter. Lunch is served from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Large parties and those who require greater efficiency may wish to pre-arrange boxed lunches. Download a pdf of the boxed luncheon menu (requires Adobe Reader). Luncheon space is limited and not guaranteed; therefore a minimum of three weeks advance notice is required. A small fee applies to groups who are placed in private areas.

Groups of 15 or more also have the option to pre-order vouchers allowing the participants in a group to eat in either Sassafras or *Terrace Café, advance payment is required.  The dollar value of the vouchers is selected by the group (tax is charged at both restaurants and should be considered when selecting the dollar amount).  Vouchers can only be redeemed on the date of the visit.  A minimum of three weeks advance notice is required.  Seating in the Sassafras and *Terrace Cafés is limited and tables cannot be reserved.  (*Open April – October.)

Picnicking on the grounds is not allowed.

The Missouri Botanical Garden is a tobacco-free environment.

For more information on meal options, as well as other amenities and discounts available for group visitors, please call the Tourism Department toll-free 1-800-332-1286 (Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.), or e-mail tourism@mobot.org.

PLEASE NOTE: The Missouri Botanical Garden features 79 acres of landscaped displays. We recommend a minimum of three hours for your complete group tour of the Garden. For tightly scheduled itineraries, you may be able to manage a two-hour visit, but this will require skipping the famed Seiwa-en Japanese Garden.
