How do I choose a plant?

When it comes to picking a plant—there are no wrong choices. All plants are amazing, you just have to do a good job telling your plant’s story. If you’re having trouble deciding on a plant, try answering these questions to find a plant that is important in YOUR life.

• What is your favorite fruit or vegetable?
• What is your all-time favorite food? What parts of it come from plants?
• What plants were used to make parts of your home or furniture in your home?
• Are there plants that help improve the air or water in your neighborhood?
• What is the prettiest plant you’ve ever seen?
• Do you or anyone in your family take medicine everyday? Was that medicine discovered because of a plant?
• What is your favorite animal? Which plants does that animal need to survive?
• Do you know about any problems in the environment? Is there a plant that could help?

You can choose a plant from anywhere in the world.

Here are some other reasons you could pick a plant:

• Size: Is it the biggest, smallest, or tallest plant in the world?
• Growth Pattern: Does it grow really fast or really slow? Does it spread the most seeds? Does it live for a really long time?
• Smell: Does it smell really good or really bad?
• Habitat: Does it grow in a really harsh environment?

Can you recommend some powerful plants?

Not really, because if we recommended plants here, everybody would choose the same plant and really there are SOOOO many powerful plants out there.

Past superheroes include:

• Rosy, the Periwinkle of Power. The Rosy Periwinkle is a powerful plant that helps cure childhood leukemia.
• Also, Van "The Cool Bean" fills the neighborhood with good smells and puts everybody in a good mood.

Rosy Periwinkle and Vanilla entries will not be accepted for the 2009–2010 contest.
