The Correspondence of

Charles (Carl) Theodore Mohr (1824‑1901) and

George William Clinton (1807‑1885)

Specimens of Charles T. Mohr curated
at the Clinton Herbarium,
Buffalo Museum of Science, Buffalo, New York

P. M. Eckel, Missouri Botanical Garden, St. Louis, Missouri.

Specimens in the Clinton Herbarium were sporadically computerized at varous times during the 1980's and 1990's. The fern collections in the General Herbarium (as opposed to the Local Herbarium or specimens from New York State and Ontario, Canada) were computerized, as were most of the grasses, hepatics and around half of the moss collections. The following unedited data is presented to supplement the information posted in the letters Charles Mohr sent to George Clinton, founder and developer of the herbarium that bears his name, from 1867 to 1879. Many other specimens in this collection are yet to be added to the database.

Such information may also be correlated with computerized collections of Mohr's specimens at the New York Botanical Garden, the University of Alabama at Tuscaloosa and other institutions.

The Clinton Herbarium is presently the nineth oldest continuously owned herbarium in the United States and is one of the cultural treasures of the City of Buffalo, New York.
