[1863] Nov. 2. Yesterday. Day found Staphylea trifoliata,
in a grove, on the plain, back of new stone barn, on the 1st. road to right
of McAdam Turnpike, after passing the gate, behind the barn, easterly, a
quarry not worked this year, & a little beyond the grove (or coppice?).
On head of Squaw Island planted seeds of the Pawpaw, & there, & along
inside of the embankment, down to the Lock, scattered seeds of the Hibiscus
moscheutos, Silybum marianum, and Nicandra physaloides. A few days
since, at the Ferry, opposite the Dam, left a number of seeds of the Pawpaw
at Mr. Fred..ry's to be planted thereabouts. [1863]
Nov. 30. Went to Albany, by 8 A.M. train. |
