*Leontodon autumnalis L. FALL HAWKBIT, AUTUMN DANDELION.
Ontario, Niagara Parks System, Cameron (1895). "A few specimens have been
found along the roadway near the Glen," Hamilton (1943).
Ontario: "edge
of Boulevard opposite School of Horticulture," Hamilton, July 3, 1943
(NFO).
This species
presently overwhelms typical Dandelion (Taraxacum officinale) later in the
summer in the lawns all along the Niagara Boulevard, Ontario. No sooner do the
maintenance department mow the lawns than the scapes of this plant shoot up to
rise above the shortened grasses for miles.
