Zenkert (1931) reported Ebony Spleenwort at
Lewiston growing with Rock Selaginella (Selaginella rupestris
(q.v.). In 1931 this fern-locality was a new station in the Niagara region for
"one of our rarer and more worth-while ferns." The station was
"a rocky outcrop along the Niagara Escarpment" with
"moss-covered ledges" in the wall rock.
