NOTE: prason,-i (s.n.II), Gk. prason ‘leek’; “a growth, of a leek-green color, found on seaweed” (Glare).

2. “a disease, probably shingles” (Glare); see herpes (Eng.noun). Shingles (Eng.pl.noun), med. = Herpes zoster, a disease with a characteristic belt- or girdle-like skin rash; derives from Latin cingulum,-i (s.n.II), q.v.; see herpes (Eng.noun).

Zona,-ae (s.f.I), q.v.: (med.): “an encircling band or marking; shingles (Herpes zoster)” (Glare), a disease with a characteristic belt- or girdle-like skin rash, commonly called ‘shingles’ which derives from the Latin ‘cingulum,’ or ‘girdle.’
