Vesicle: vesicula,-ae (s.f.I), abl.sg. vesicula, nom. & acc. pl. vesicula, dat. & abl. pl. vesiculis: vesicle, small bladder or blister, air-cavity [> L. vesicula,-ae (s.f.I) dim. of vesica,-ae (s.f.I)]; small bladders or utricles, q.v., as in species of carnivorous Utricularia possessing underground or underwater vesiculae that trap and digest small invertebrates, or which contain seeds; see utricle;

- zoosporae e vesicula persistenti liberatae, zoospores released through a persistent vesicle.

- stipites proxime sub vesicula 300-3000 um longi, 7-22 um lati, stipes immediately below the vesicle 300-3000 um long, 7-22 um wide.

- cytoplasma vesiculis tribus vel pluribus instructa, cytoplasm provided with three or more vesicles.

- (algae) organa fructificationis in regno vegetabili simplicissima, vesicula simplici, granula includente, constare videntur (Agardh), the organs of fructification, the most simple in the plant kingdom, seem to consist of an undivided vesicle enclosing granules.

- (algae) in speciminibus, quae ipse legi, pedicellum ultimum semper vesiculam sustentantem, neque unquam sterilem observavi (Agardh), in specimens which I myself collected, the ultimate pedicel always subtending the vesicle, nor have I ever observed to be sterile.

Pusula,-ae (s.f.I): a bubble; “the contractile vesicle in Peridiniae” (Schütt).”

Vesicula,-ae (s.f.I) sporophora (adj.A): “the spore-case of certain Fungals” (Lindley).

Vesiculina (Walt.) Raf. a former genus, some species now in Utricularia L., the Bladderworts;
