A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

 
Crassities,-ei (s.f.V), abl. sg. crassitie: thickness, density; see thickness;

- crassities setae porcinae, the thickness of a pig's bristle.

- crassitie capilli humani (Agardh), with the thickness of a human hair.

- caulis pedalis & ultra, teres, filiformis, pennam corvinam vix crassitie aequans (Agardh), the stem a foot and more, round, thread-like, in thickness scarcely equal to a crow’s feather.

- testa ossea semi-linea crassitie (F. Mueller), the seed-coat bony, one half line in thickness.

- testa ossea semi-lineae crassitie (F. Mueller) the seedcoat bony, one-half line (2.1 mm) in thickness.

- stigmate styli crassitiem paulo excedente (F. Mueller), with the stigma somewhat exceeding the thickness of the style.

- crassitie paulo tenuior aliis Pachymeniis, in thickness somewhat thinner than [other Pachymenia species].

- [lichen] podetia crassitie circa 1 millim. (Nyl.), the podetia around 1 millimeter in thickness.

- (algae) frondes basi crassitie pennae corvinae apice abruptius attenuatae (Agardh), the fronds at the base with the thickness of a crow’s feather, at the apex more abruptly narrowed.

- [algae] caulis pennam corvinam crassitie aequans vel parum superans (Agardh), the stem equalling a crow feather in thickness or somewhat overtopping this.

- Ibidem & animalia visendae magnitudinis: in Serpentino genere, Crocodilus aliique stupendae longitudinis & crassitiei nascuntur (Ray), in the same place arise animals for the observing of magnitude: among the serpentine [i.e. crawling] sort, the Crocodile and others of astonishing length and thickness.
