A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

 
Amnis,-is (s.m.III), abl. sg. amne, gen.pl. amnium: torrent, rapidly flowing river; see river;

- amnes in aequora currentes, torrents running into level places (acc. pl.).

- amnes nubigeni, (torrential) rivers born of the clouds.

- in montibus Flinders et Elders Range nec non ad amnem Crystal Brook (F.Muell.), and also the Crystal Brook.

- in collibus ad amnem Delatite (C. Muell.), in the hills at the river Delatite.

- in pratis passim inundatis et secus fluviorum amniumque ripas per Australiam occidentali-septentrionalem (C, Muell.), here and there in inundated grasslands and along the banks of streams and rivers throughout western-northern Australia.

- ad amnes et fluvios prope Moretón Bay satis frequens (C. Muell.), at rivers and streams near Moreton Bay quite frequent.

- [Logania] L. linifolia cum L. floribunda, ut vult cl. Bentham (vide Proceed. Linn. Soc. I., 94) combinari nequit; illam enim semper ad erema restrictam reperi, cum L. floribunda amnes silváticos sequitur (C.Muell.),Logania linifolia is unable to be combined with L. floribunda, as the esteemed Bentham wishes; for I have always found that one [i.e. L. linifolia] restricted to deserts, whereas L. floribunda follows woodland rivers.

- in madidis opacis ad amnem Dépôt Creek (C. Muell.), in wet shaded places at the river Depot Creek.

- in dicto Мonte Fesulаno prope Villam D. Equitis ‘del Turco,’ juxta amnem ‘Emа,’ inter Pontem Divi Felicis, & Роntem Jozoli (Mich.), on the mountain called Fesulanus of the lord knight [domini equitis] ‘del Turco’ [i.e. of the del Turco family] beside the [rapidly flowing] river ‘Ema,’ between the Bridge of Saint Felix and the Bridge Jozoli.
