The Bottlebrush buckeyes in the Knolls are just past peak bloom, but
still nice.
Roses in both the Gladney and Lehmann Rose Gardens are at the peak
of seasonal bloom.
Astilbes and Lilies are showy in the English Woodland Garden. The
flowers of many Hostas are also noteworthy.
Hardy lilies and Ornamental alliums are blooming in the Heckman and
Samuels Bulb Gardens. Spider lilies (Hymenocallis 'Zwanenburg') are
also showy in the Heckman Bulb Garden.
Many Daylilies in the Jenkins Daylily Garden are now in bloom.
Oakleaf hydrangeas and Smooth hydrangeas are showy in many locations
on the grounds.
Hardy water lilies in the pool at the base of the Dry Stream Bed in
the Knolls are in bloom.
The fragrances of Jasmine and Gardenias fill the Shoenberg Temperate
House. The beautiful blue flowers of Throatwort (Trachelium
caeruleum) and soft pink Kangaroo Paw blossoms (Anigozanthos flavidus
'Pink Joey') are particularly showy upstairs.
Colorful Impatiens (Impatiens walleriana 'Dazzler Series') line the
winding brick path in the cool, shady Linnean House.
The Yarrow and Coreopsis trials in the Lois Whiteside Franklin
Flower Trial Garden at the Kemper Center for Home Gardening are still showy.
Don't miss the display of new 'Solar' series Coleus that thrive in
sunny areas.
Purple Poppy mallows, Prairie phlox, and Butterfly weed are showy in
the Lucy and Stanley Lopata Prairie Garden at the Kemper Center for Home
Gardening.
Tropical Water lilies in the pools in the Milles Sculpture Garden.
