Mums are becoming showy in the Swift Family Garden and elsewhere on
the Garden grounds.
At the Kemper Center for Home Gardening, Asters, Sneezeweed, and Goldenrods
in the Lucy and Stanley Lopata Prairie Garden are showy. The
Supertunias (Petunia axillaris) in the Flower Trial Garden are showy.
The intricate knot garden in the circular bed in the Vegetable Garden
is very showy.
Roses in both the Gladney and Lehmann Rose Gardens are at the peak
of seasonal bloom.
Hardy begonias growing near the bog in the English Woodland Garden
are very showy. Toad lilies and Turtlehead are also showy. Autumn
hues are now evident as the dogwood foliage begins to turn color.
Fig, Japanese persimmon, and Pomegranate fruits are ripening in the
Shoenberg Temperate House.
In the Linnean House, smell the sweet perfume of the Fragrant olive
trees and look for the first Camellias starting to bloom.
Tall verbena and African daisies on Spoehrer Plaza are showy.
The riot of color in the Heckman and Samuels Bulb Gardens is mostly
provided by the showy foliage of annuals such as Coleus, Hemigraphis,
and Strobilanthes.
Tardiva hydrangeas throughout the grounds are past peak bloom, but
some are still nice.
The Crapemyrtles in Bakewell Court are in full bloom.
Cardinal flowers growing along the dry stream bed in The Knolls are
still showy.
Tropical water lilies in the Milles Sculpture Garden pools are
showy.
The view of the new Kresko Victorian Garden and the Kaiser Maze from atop the
Piper Observatory is spectacular.
The Flower Borders along the path to the Kemper Center for Home Gardening
are showy.
