Valeriana plantaginea  Kunth;  Valerianaceae

Hierbas grandes, de hasta 1,5 m, con un olor fuerte y desagradable. Las hojas están dispuestas en una roseta en la base, son lanceoladas, de hasta 45 cm de largo, gruesas y brillantes en la cara superior. La inflorescencia es alta, mide hasta 80 cm, con ramificaciones erguidas, con numerosas flores. Las flores miden 5 mm de largo, son tubulares con 5 lóbulos cortos, de color blanco con tintes morados.

Distribución: Venezuela a Perú. En el PNC se la encuentra en grupos dentro de los bosques de Polylepis donde se la ubica fácilmente por su gran tamaño y su olor fuerte.

Large herbs, up to 1.5 m tall, with a strong unpleasant smell. The leaves, arranged in a basal rosette, are lanceolate, up to 45 cm long, thick and glossy above. The inflorescence is tall, up to 80 cm, with erect branches, with numerous flowers. The flowers are 5 mm long, tubular with 5 short lobes, white tinged with purple.

Distribution: Venezuela to Peru. In CNP it is found in groups inside the Polylepis forests where it can be easily located due to its size and strong smell.
