Pernettya prostrata  (Cav.) DC.;  Ericaceae

Arbustos bajos, de hasta 30 cm de alto. Las hojas son alternas, lanceoladas, de hasta 1,5 cm de largo, gruesas, con el borde aserrado. Las flores son solitarias, de hasta 5 mm de largo, con forma de jarroncito con 5 dientes, blancas a veces teñidas de rosado. Los frutos son redondos y carnosos, de hasta 10 mm de largo, de color negro-azul oscuro.

Distribución: C México hasta NO Argentina. En el PNC se encuentra alrededor de los bosques de Polylepis y en el pajonal.

Low shrubs up to 30 cm tall. The leaves are alternate, lanceolate, up to 1.5 cm long, leathery, with serrate margins. The flowers are solitary, up to 5 mm long, vase-shaped with 5 teeth, white sometimes tinged with pale pink. The fruits are round and fleshy, up to 10 mm long, blackish-blue.

Distribution: C Mexico to NW Argentina. In CNP it is found around the Polylepis forests and in the grass páramo.
