Myriophyllum quitense  Kunth;  Haloragaceae

Hierbas acuáticas sumergidas y flotantes, se las ve en grupos densos; los tallos son de longitud variable, a veces semi-leñosos. Las hojas están dispuestas en verticilos y se ven 4 ó 5 al mismo nivel, miden hasta 1,5 cm de largo; las hojas sumergidas tienen muchas divisiones muy delgadas como hilos; las hojas emergentes son enteras, de color verde-amarillo con tintes rojizos, con los bordes aserrados. Las flores son diminutas, miden 3 mm de largo y son verdosas.

Distribución: Venezuela a Tierra del Fuego. En el PNC es común en las lagunas.

Aquatic herbs, submerged and floating, forming dense groups; the stems are variable in length and are sometimes woody. The leaves are in groups of 4 or 5, to 1.5 cm long; the submerged leaves have many slender divisions like thread; the emerging leaves are entire, yellow-green tinged with red and the margins are serrate. The flowers are minute, up to 3 mm long and greenish.

Distribution: Venezuela to Tierra del Fuego. In CNP it is common in the lakes.
