Equisetum bogotense  Kunth;  Equisetaceae

Plantas de hasta 30 cm de alto; los tallos son bastante delgados, generalmente huecos en el centro. Las hojas son diminutas, reducidas a escamas de color café, dispuestas en anillos espaciados a lo largo del tallo. Las estructuras reproductivas (esporangios) se encuentran en un tipo de espigas pequeñas (estróbilos) que se encuentran en las puntas de las ramas, miden hasta 1,5 cm de largo, son de color café oscuro; las esporas son verdes.

Distribución: Costa Rica a Bolivia. En el PNC se encuentra a los lados de la carretera.

Plants up to 30 cm tall; the stems are slender and generally hollow. The leaves are minute, reduced to brown scales, arranged in rings spaced along the stem. The reproductive structures (sporangia) are found in small spike-like structures (strobili) at the apex of the branches; they are to 1.5 cm long, dark brown with green spores.

Distribution: Costa Rica to Bolivia. In CNP it is found along roads.
