Diplostephium glandulosum  Hieron.;  Asteraceae o Compositae

Arbustos que miden hasta 3 m de alto; las ramas y la cara inferior de las hojas tienen pelos lanosos de color blanco grisáceo. Las hojas son alternas y lineares, gruesas, miden hasta 1,2 cm de largo; los bordes están doblados hacia abajo. La inflorescencia con forma de cabezuelas de alrededor 2 cm de largo, se encuentra al final de las ramas. Las flores son de dos tipos: las externas (± 20) son irregulares, presentan una lengüeta de 15 mm de largo, de color lila intenso; las internas (± 15) son tubulares y con 5 dientes, de color amarillo. El fruto tiene una corona de pelos rojizos.

Distribución: Colombia y Ecuador. En el PNC se encuentra en los bosques de Polylepis.

Shrubs up to 3 m tall; the branches and lower surface of leaves are covered with wooly grayish-white hairs. The leaves are alternate, linear, leathery, up to 1.2 cm long, and the margins curl downwards. The inflorescences are heads around 2 cm long, at the tip of the branches. The flowers are of two types: the external (± 20) are irregular, strap-shaped, 15 mm long, deep lilac; the internal (± 15) are tubular with 5 yellow teeth. The fruits have a crown of reddish hairs.

Distribution: Colombia and Ecuador. In CNP it is found in the Polylepis forests.
