Arcytophyllum vernicosum  (Ruiz & Pav.) Standl.;  Rubiaceae

Arbustos de hasta 1 m de alto, densamente ramificados. Las hojas son opuestas, lanceoladas, de hasta 0,6 cm de largo, brillantes en la cara superior; los bordes son engrosados en la cara inferior. Las inflorescencias tienen 1 a 3 flores. Las flores miden hasta 8 mm de largo, son de color blanco teñidas de lila, morado o rosado, tienen un tubo corto con 4 lóbulos triangulares, recubiertos de diminutos pelos blancos.

Distribución: S Ecuador al N Perú. En el PNC se encuentra en el páramo de pajonal.

Shrubs up to 1 m tall, densely branched. The leaves are opposite, lanceolate, up to 0.6 cm long, glossy above; the margins are thickened below. The inflorescences have 1 to 3 flowers. The flowers are 8 mm long, white tinged with lilac, purple or pink; they have a short tube and 4 triangular lobes covered with minute white hairs.

Distribution: S Ecuador to N Peru. In CNP it is found in the grass páramo.
