Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Copy editing of scientific manuscripts and articles as assigned; routinely interact with authors by email, phone and FAX correspondence to confirm manuscript modifications for the journal style and to clarify the language of the paper.

Under the direction of the Vice President, Horticulture, the Greenhouse Supervisor is involved in the planning, coordination and management of the daily operations of the Garden’s greenhouse complex.
Some responsibilities include but are limited to:
• Leadership and management of the greenhouse staff as well as oversight of volunteers
• Oversight of propagation and growing of flowering plants for two indoor plant shows, outdoor displays, unusual plants for use in outdoor gardens or the display conservatories
• Management of rare and endangered plant collections including, collections of orchids, water lilies and carnivorous plants; living plants in approximately 30 plant families under study by research staff
• Sourcing and purchasing all plant materials as well as allocation of staff resources

Informatics Project Coordinator

Summary of the Position: The Informatics Project Coordinator will work with stakeholders and other key staff to successfully complete the grant-funded technology projects within the Center for Biodiversity Informatics. These projects are highly technical, including software development tasks and high resolution digital imaging activities. A primary responsibility will be providing administrative support to the global Biodiversity Heritage Library consortium.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Assist Director, Center for Biodiversity Informatics, in planning, scheduling, and organizing meetings and workshops. Using meeting facilities at the Missouri Botanical Garden, as well as other facilities at collaborating partner institutions around the world, the Project Coordinator will provide administrative and event management assistance in coordinating meetings and events and will be required to periodically travel domestically and internationally to assist with them.
• Maintain up-to-date timeline and status of activities for all technology projects within the Center for Biodiversity Informatics, including expenses, budgets, milestones, deliverables, and tasks. A significant aspect of coordination and communication for the Center for Biodiversity Informatics is keeping project stakeholders and external collaborators aware of all ongoing and planned activities. The Project Coordinator will create, maintain and update a consolidated timeline and project plan available for use by all project participants located around the world and will track time and expenses for the Center.
• Working closely with the Director, Center for Biodiversity Informatics, review, update, and plan project budgets and actual expenses. The Project Coordinator will use reports from the Missouri Botanical Garden’s accounting system to review and maintain up-to-date budgets and actual expenses for all projects within the Center for Biodiversity Informatics and to prepare invoices to funding bodies. The Project Coordinator will assist the Director in preparing new project plans and budgets.
Qualifications Include:
• B.S. degree in Computer Science or related field required.

As Publications Manager, you will supervise the Publications Editor, the Web Content Editor, two graphic designers, and seasonal interns. You will be the key interface with other departments, the production coordinator to control workflow, the lead writer on most projects, the editor on everything, as well as the institutional leader who proposes new projects and initiatives for the Garden’s benefit. The position requires the ability to work with individuals at all levels in the organization; strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills; excellent judgment, organizational, and administrative skills; and a strong sense of responsibility and teamwork. Summary of the Position: The Garden’s Publications Department is an in-house service provider with a mission “To provide the most sustainable, yet cost-effective, creative, and timely, solutions to communication needs in print, signage/display, and on the Internet.” The Publications Department produces all print materials, including the Bulletin membership newsletter, annual report, advertising/marketing pieces, education catalogs, signage and display installations, as well as manages the Garden’s website, e-marketing, and social media. This position manages and coordinates the development, writing, editing, design, and production of the public content of the Garden’s print publications, signage/exhibits, and website.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
EDITORIAL:
• Confers with other Garden employees then writes or assigns staff or contractors to research, write and edit content for: the Garden’s, annual report, books, brochures, flyers, signage/exhibits and other material.
• Partners with the web content editor to write website content; maintains a new Content Management System after conferring with IT to purchase and implement it.
• Collaborates internally as needed on press releases, special brochures, PowerPoint presentations, and similar materials designed to create and maintain favorable public image for the Garden.
PRODUCTION

• Oversees specific areas in the absence of assigned horticulturist handling the day-to-day responsibilities of managing the landscape, maintenance issues and volunteer assignments.

• Drives tram and conducts narrated tram tours of the Garden.
• Ensures a smooth flow of visitors during peak attendance.

• Manages warehouse inventory of an approximately 68,000 item count (books and prints).

• Delivers complete orders (packages and envelopes) to pickup locations for the Garden Mail Room, USPS, and other shipping services (UPS, FedEx, customs agents, commercial shippers).

• Assists in the maintenance of accurate inventory records and in particular, the year-end physical counts.

Missouri Botanical Garden offers a horticulture internship program every summer to provide an environment in which students of horticulture and other related fields may interact directly with professional horticulturists, learning through observation, instruction and hands-on daily tasks.
