Summary of the Position:
The Major Gifts Officer reports to the Director of Major Gifts. This position is responsible for managing a portfolio of prospects and projects in the discipline of individual giving programs to assist the division and the Garden in achieving its institutional advancement and fund raising objectives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Manages a portfolio of approximately 200 - 300 current donors and prospects, primarily comprised of individuals and family foundations. Solicits individuals for annual, capital, special project and deferred gifts, as assigned; analyzes donor base and giving using Raisers Edge.
Coordinates annual membership gift renewal solicitation for donors at the $600 Presidents Associate level and above, with an emphasis on identifying current donors with the capacity to upgrade to higher levels of membership in the Henry Shaw or Peter H. Raven Societies.
Coordinates prospect research activities and develops strategies in cooperation with division management for identifying, cultivating, and soliciting major individual gifts of $10,000 and above. Assumes a lead role in setting appointments with major gift prospects, conducting the meetings alone or as part of a staff team, and coordinating necessary follow-up.
Responds to donor inquiries and maintain excellent donor relations.
Manages donor acknowledgement (including thank you letters and tax statements), reporting, recognition and other stewardship activities related to the Gardens major gifts program and assigned donor base.
Conducts Garden tours for donors and prospects as required; participates in fund raising meetings and support events at the Gardens main campus and off-site locations; completes other duties as assigned to achieve current departmental goals and objectives.
Qualifications Include:
Bachelors Degree in business, marketing, finance, non-profit management, or related field required.

Sr. Project Coordinator, Informatics

The Missouri Botanical Garden is one of the world's top botanical research and conservation institutions. In support of our mission, To discover and share knowledge about plants and their environment, in order to preserve and enrich life the Garden is a member of The Biodiversity Heritage Library (BHL), the digitization component of the Encyclopedia of Life. Which is a consortium of 12 major natural history museum libraries, botanical libraries, and research institutions organized to digitize, serve, and preserve the legacy literature of biodiversity.
Summary of the Position: The Informatics Sr. Project Coordinator will work with stakeholders and other key staff to successfully plan, design and complete grant-funded technology projects within the Center for Biodiversity Informatics. These projects are highly technical, including software development tasks and high resolution digital imaging activities, and scientific, as all projects are related to international sharing of biodiversity data. A primary responsibility will be providing coordination to the global Biodiversity Heritage Library consortium, as well as other international consortia and projects.
This position is open for two years only and is dependent upon temporary funding from grants or contracts. Extension beyond two years is possible but cannot be assured.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Working under the direction of the Director, Center for Biodiversity Informatics, manage all aspects and phases of application development for grant-funded projects. Tasks include project analysis and design, gathering project requirements, developing project estimates, assessing risks, delivering and maintaining project plans and giving oral and written presentations at project meetings and conferences. The Project Coordinator will also be responsible for resource scheduling and coordinating development priorities to complete project deliverables.
Maintain up-to-date timeline and status of activities for all technology projects within the Center for Biodiversity Informatics, including expenses, budgets, milestones, deliverables, and tasks. A significant aspect of coordination and communication for the Center for Biodiversity Informatics is keeping project stakeholders and external collaborators aware of all ongoing and planned activities. The Project Coordinator will create, maintain and update a consolidated timeline and project plan available for use by all project participants located around the world and will track time and expenses for the Center. The Project Coordinator will also write narrative progress reports at regular intervals for submission to project stakeholders and funding agencies.
Working closely with the Director, Center for Biodiversity Informatics, review, update, and plan project budgets and actual expenses. The Project Coordinator will use reports from the Missouri Botanical Gardens accounting system to review and maintain up-to-date budgets and actual expenses for all projects within the Center for Biodiversity Informatics and to prepare invoices to funding bodies. The Project Coordinator will assist the Director in preparing new project plans and budgets.
Collaborate with principal investigators and technical leads at partner organizations. The Project Coordinator will stay in close communication with project leaders, principal investigators and technical staff at partner organizations to ensure applications and deliverables from the Center for Biodiversity Informatics can be incorporated into community efforts. The Project Coordinator will maintain current knowledge of data exchange formats and community standards used within the field of biodiversity informatics.
Assist Director, Center for Biodiversity Informatics, in planning, scheduling, and organizing meetings and workshops. Using meeting facilities at the Missouri Botanical Garden, as well as other facilities at collaborating partner institutions around the world, the Project Coordinator will provide administrative and event management assistance in coordinating meetings and events and will be required to periodically travel domestically and internationally to assist with them.

Drives tram and conducts narrated tram tours of the Garden.
Ensures a smooth flow of visitors during peak attendance.
