The Missouri Botanical Garden provides a comprehensive benefits plan for full-time, regular employees. In addition, part-time, regular employees are offered a very competitive package as described below. This is a basic outline of the Garden's benefit programs. The actual plans and/or policies are on file in the Human Resource Management Division and are the controlling documents in the event of errors or omissions on this outline.

Medical Insurance - Full-time, regular employees may choose from two Open Access POS medical plans. In addition to the two Open Access POS plans, the Garden offers an Open Access HRA plan. The Garden and the employee share in the cost of the medical insurance. Dependent coverage is available. Employees are eligible for coverage from the first day of employment.

Dental Insurance - Available to full-time, regular employees, the Garden offers three dental plans: a standard PPO, an enhanced PPO, and an EPO plan. The Garden shares the cost of the dental plans with employees. Dependent coverage is available. Employees are eligible for coverage from the first day of employment.

Life and Accidental Death & Dismemberment Insurance - The Garden pays the full premium for coverage equal to two times the employee's annual salary rounded to the nearest thousand. Full-time, regular employees are eligible to participate. Coverage begins on the first day of employment.

Long-Term Disability Insurance - Full-time, regular employees are provided this insurance at no cost, and coverage begins the day following the completion of 365 days of eligible employment. Benefits begin after 90 days of approved disability. The plan pays 60% of salary up to $9,000/month.

Tax Deferred Annuity Plan - The Garden makes a Tax Deferred Annuity Plan with several investment options available to full-time, regular employees and part-time, regular employees who work at least 1040 hours per year. Participation in this program is voluntary and may start as early as the first day of employment. Eligible employees may make contributions in multiples of one percent (1%) up to the IRS maximum, currently $15,500. The Garden matches 100% of employee contributions up to 6% after meeting a one year employment requirement. The Garden's match is 100% vested upon contribution.

Vacation - The vacation program is designed to reward hours based upon years of service. Full-time, regular employees earn and accrue vacation based on the scheduled outlined below. Part-time, regular employees who work an average of 20 hours per week throughout a calendar year accrue vacation on a pro rata basis. Vacation accrues up to a maximum of twice the annual amount. Earned vacation may be used after six months of employment.

Sick Leave - Full-time, regular employees accrue sick leave at the rate of six days per year. Part-time, regular employees who work an average of 20 hours per week throughout a calendar year accrue sick leave on a pro rata basis up to a maximum of three sick days per year. Unused sick leave may be accrued up to a maximum of 30 days. Earned sick leave may be used after 90 days of employment.

Holidays - Full-time, regular employees are eligible for holiday pay. The Garden observes 11 paid holidays annually, including one floating holiday or personal day that the employee may choose with supervisory approval. The floating holiday may be taken after the 90th calendar day of employment.

Flexible Benefit Plan: Dependent Care & Medical Expenses - The Garden's program permits pre-tax contributions for eligible dependent care and medical expenses, as well as for health care and dental premiums. This benefit is available to full-time, regular employees, and part-time, regular employee who work an average of 1040 hours per year.

Employee Assistance Program - The Garden provides an Employee Assistance Program to give staff, and their immediate family members, confidential assistance to help resolve life issues. The Garden pays the full cost of this program.

International Travel Assistance Programs -The Garden provides emergency medical assistance and personal services, as well as health services to enrolled staff members who travel more than 100 miles from their home. The Garden funds the memberships for employees.

Garden Membership and Employee Discounts - All employees receive a complimentary Garden Membership. Benefits include free admission for the employee and his/her guests; a 20% discount on purchases made in the Garden Gate Shop; and a 20% discount in Sassafrass, the Garden's restaurant. Employees are eligible for consideration of education fee discounts of 25% or waivers for job-related classes offered by the Garden's Education and Horticulture Divisions.
