Once a vast prairie, Missouri has been transformed to forests of oak, hickory and maple, creating a shade canopy under which woodland wildflowers prevail. The Missouri Native Shade Garden recreates this habitat and displays shade-tolerant native plants that can be used in gardens dominated by trees.
