Glenn Kopp - Adult Education Manager
25 years at Missouri Botanical Garden
We celebrate Glenn Kopp’s 25 years at the Garden as he is one of the most dedicated educators and horticulture enthusiasts any botanical garden could want. Glenn started at the Garden in the Education Division in 1984 and began the Adult Education Program, offering classes to membership and the public. It continues with great success today. In those early days, Glenn played a key role in developing the Master Gardener program in St. Louis working together with University of Missouri Outreach and Extension personnel. This program has grown to over 300 active volunteers and represents a major effort through the Kemper Center.
Glenn joined the Horticulture Division in 1989 to become part of the Kemper Center where he is greatly appreciated for his well-known organizational skills and management of the electronic gardening information on our website. We salute Glenn for his contributions to developing the PlantFinder, the NurseryTracker, PestSelector and Master Gardener record databases. In addition, Glenn was responsible for authoring the Integrated Pest Management manual and several popular gardening fact sheets, working with volunteers to get this done.
Glenn is a team player in every way and continues to amaze his colleagues with culinary contributions as a teacher and cook. This gets him invited to many parties! With a fondness for food, gardening and computers, he is also an avid traveler to places like Australia, Thailand, Central and South America. We don’t hold him totally responsible for his taste for odd botanical food like durians, but try to remember that it’s hard to be a native from North Dakota with such cosmopolitan interests. Thanks, Glenn, for all of your contributions to the Garden.
