Bloom Cart

See 'What's In Bloom' across the Garden.
View our blossoms inside and learn where to find them outside.

A favorite feature for guests and visitors
is Horticulture's Bloom Cart in Monsanto Hall.

In keeping with the Garden's mission statement, the Bloom Cart serves to "...share knowledge about plants and their environment..." by calling special attention to a small number of particular plants as they come into bloom every week.

Our old-fashioned flower cart features a sampling of fresh blossoms cut from a variety of plants in bloom all over the Garden giving visitors an up-to-the-minute preview before they step outside.

Blooms are displayed in separate containers placed inside the cart and labeled with scientific and common names. The flower cart display also includes an oversized map of the Garden with duplicate magnetic labels mounted at the location of each featured plant in bloom. Guests can then easily find the plants as they tour the Garden.

Spotlighting plants in the flower cart display gives people an opportunity to learn a little something extra about a few plants at a time. We show how these plants look in flower and encourage our visitors to seek out the whole, mature plant in its garden environment.

The Bloom Cart certainly features popular favorites as they come into bloom, although folks really find the more unusual blossoms most fascinating.

Guests, visitors, students, even Garden staff can often be found at the Bloom Cart which is on display in Monsanto Hall on the upper level of the Ridgway Visitor Center. The cart is always lovely and sometimes quite fragrant, depending of course, on What's In Bloom outside.
