Start from seed in winter or spring. Best if grown swiftly in cool weather with plenty of water and nutrients, protected by floating row covers to protect from elements and flea beetles. Plant radishes after harvest.

Noteworthy Characteristics:

Edible salad green noted for sharp nutty flavor. Leaves are at their best when harvested young and small, before flower stem rises from center of plant. However, flowers can also be used to garnish salads. Will self sow for continual harvest.

Problems:

Flea beetles can be a problem. Leaves get bitter if allowed to get large.

Uses:

Salads and in sandwiches like lettuce.
