Easily grown in average, medium, well-drained soil in full sun to part shade. Plant bulbs 4-6" deep in rich, organic soil in fall or spring. Do not allow to dry out. Bulbs need good moisture year-round. Mulch around plants to keep root zone cool. After bloom, cut back plants only after leaves and stems turn yellow.
Noteworthy Characteristics:
Oriental hybrid lilies are known for their intense fragrances, large flowers, and rich colors. This hybrid flower is 5-6" across and features 6 white petals with a pink stripe down the middle of each petal, prominent reddish brown anthers and deep rose spots at the throat. Blooms July to August on 3-4' rigid stems. May need staking if not in a protected location. Flowers are very fragrant. Excellent fresh cut flower.
Problems:
No serious insect or disease problems. Bulb rot can be a problem in wet, poorly drained soils. Viral diseases can also be a problem, and prompt control of aphids which vector the disease is recommended.
Uses:
An excellent, showy flower that provides color and contrast in summer to the perennial border. Plant in groups near the patio and enjoy the fragrance when sitting outside on summer evenings. Also grows well in pots, but flowers will be somewhat smaller.
