Summer 2008 Programs


Summer Programs for High School Students

Carver Curators is open to students entering 10th grade in fall 2008 and who attend a Gear Up school. Students will learn about Dr. George Washington Carver in this program co-sponsored by the Missouri History Museum.

SAGE (Students As Garden Educators) Service Program
This program offers the opportunity to teach about botany and ecology in the Doris I. Schnuck Children’s Garden while fulfilling high school service requirements.

Ecological Restoration Corps
Help restore our native prairie and stream ecosystems. This program begins with an intensive two-week orientation this summer. Then throughout the school year, there will be additional opportunities to assist in ongoing community projects.

Registration has begun for early childhood and youth summer programs at the Garden, Shaw Nature Reserve, the Butterfly House, and EarthWays Center. MBG Members will have registration preference until February 29 and will receive program discounts.

Consider the Missouri Botanical Garden as a summer FIELD TRIP DESTINATION
Are you trying to plan a unique and engaging field trip for your scout group, church group, day care, or summer camp? If so, don’t forget about the Missouri Botanical Garden when scheduling your summer activities! Tours, classes, hands-on learning, and fun are available. A custom-made experience can be created to align with your nature and plant-related curriculum or expectations. Call Carol at (314) 577-9506 to find out more!

Cost: $150 for 15 students; each additional student: $8.

Fee includes an instructional, nature-related experience, admission into the Children’s Garden, and admission into the Garden for adult chaperones. Chaperones are required for each group—1 adult per 5 children.
